Breast augmentation surgery (augmentation mammaplasty) involves using implants to create fuller breasts or to restore breast volume lost after weight reduction or pregnancy. An incision can be made either underneath the breast within the crease or around the lower edge of the areola. The implant is placed in a pocket either directly behind the breast tissue (subglandular) or underneath the pectoral muscle (submuscular).

Breast reduction surgery (reduction mammaplasty) removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to achieve a breast size in proportion with your body and to alleviate the discomfort associated with overly large breasts. This procedure can be performed in either Dr. LaTrenta's office or the hospital under general anesthesia.

Revisional breast surgery is used to correct changes that may have occurred subsequent to past breast implant surgery. Many women seek secondary breast enhancement after implant-related or natural changes in the breast tissue such as after childbirth and breast-feeding. It is best to have as much information as possible about your previous implant before coming in for a consultation regarding revisional surgery.
Breast Implant Removal Lift

It is important to either have them exchanged every 10 to 15 years or have them permanently removed. If you decide to remove them, and if your breast has sagged over the past few decades, a breast lift can be added to the removal procedure. General anesthesia is required. The implant and its capsular scar tissue are removed through a small incision under your breast.

Breast reconstruction surgery involves multiple plastic surgery techniques to restore a breast to its normal shape, appearance and size following mastectomy. Most cases involve implant reconstruction in two stages. At the time of mastectomy, tissue expanders are inserted below the muscle, often with the use of sterile skin matrices for bulk.
