I first consulted Dr. Shureih in 1992 for repair of a skin tear on my shin. At that time (and still) with his accent causing me and my mother to have to lean forward he said we will have many many failures, and many many successes (he likes when I imitate him saying that), to which I responded I guess that rules out ELECTIVE plastic surgery. At first, I was scared of him because he was so serious, but 14 years and countless surgeries later, whenever I have any skin break, I call him, One time, I called him at home (it took exactly 2 months for me to warm up to him, and eventually, I believe he came to regard me as family). On this occasion, he opened up his office for me and repaired one of the countless wounds that a long course of steroids had come to happen with the slightest provocation. That is the kind of dedication I believe matters when choosing a doctor. Because he is interested in me and my health, he always has some information/suggestion to offer. In fact, whenever I see a new doctor for other symptoms, I always run the cotntents of the appointment by Dr. Shureih, who, if he does not know himself, takes it upon himself to consult with a colleague with that specialty. I love him like the father figure my (deceased) father never was. or maybe the brother figure I never had!
