Breast augmentation surgery increases the size of the breasts with either saline or silicone gel implants. Since individual patient goals vary, Dr. Horowitz offers a variety of breast implant shapes, sizes and incision placement options.

♠ Ideal candidates for breast augmentation have realistic expectations, understand the surgery's limitations, and are emotionally mature.

A tummy tuck, also known as an abdominoplasty, restores a smooth, toned appearance to the abdomen. This procedure involves two essential maneuvers. First, excess skin and fat from the middle and lower abdomen is removed. Secondly, the weakened or separated abdominal wall muscles are tightened. The end result is a more contoured and firmer tummy.

♠ A tummy tuck involves a horizontal incision below the abdomen and just above the pubic area. As a result, a scar at the bikini line will be permanent, though it will fade with time and is generally unseen under most underwear or swimsuits.

♠ In selected patients, Dr. Horowitz performs liposuction to the abdomen, flanks and back at the same time as tummy tuck surgery. This approach allows simultaneous improvement to the circumferential trunk in one sitting.

Many patients are interested in enlarging their lips. Although these are often younger patients looking to make their lips more voluptuous and pouty, older patients may present for lip augmentation as well. This is because with age, desirous lip volume can be lost.

♠ Lip augmentation is performed in the office with either topical anesthesia or after a small injection to numb the nerves that go to the lips, such as is done at the dentist's office. Juvederm is then injected using a fine needle.
