Surgical procedures are performed in one of three settings: hospital-based, free-standing ambulatory surgery centers, or office-based surgery facilities. The office-based setting, in particular, has many advantages for the plastic surgeon and for his or her patients. The benefits include greater control over the schedule, greater privacy for the patient, convenience, and increased efficiency and consistency in the medical staff and support personnel. There are often cost savings for the patient as well.
The decision to proceed with this procedure is a personal one. It is vital to discuss your cosmetic goals and expectations with your surgeon in order to get results you desire. Remember that implants increase the volume of your natural breasts. What you see in the mirror prior to surgery is the same as what you will see after surgery, only larger.
Body contouring is a term used to describe surgical procedures performed to enhance a patient's figure by removing excess skin and fat, especially after massive weight loss. The surgeries are dependent upon the desires and goals of the patient as well as the indicative decision by the surgeon. Common areas done are the upper arms, breasts, abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs. The best candidates are those in good overall health, steady with their weight, and realistic about the outcomes of surgery.
