I know many medical centers get bad reviews due to long wait times while being in immense pain however, I would like to try and change that and give a good review for once. So on April 3rd, I got hurt while playing softball and dislocated my shoulder. I immediately drove to the nearest emergency room, with that being BMC and I was helped immediately by the front desk receptionist in the ER.

She got me to a nurse immediately (Angela) and from there, Angela helped me right away and immediately got me in contact with a doctor. Angela did whatever she can to alleviate my pain. She checked up on me often to make sure I was doing okay and it made me feel very comfortable. I was then helped by doctor Demian Szyld and he was extremely helpful.

He made sure to perform everything as most great doctors would've done. Made sure that I got x-rayed to confirm nothing was broken then when he popped my arm back into place, he made sure to get another x-ray to make sure everything was in place. I appreciate the visit here and have always enjoyed being helped by the BMC community. They got a great team there and I would highly recommend/encourage people to come here to get care if needed. They're very nice and they do the best they can to help their patients with kindness, courtesy and professionalism. I've had much longer wait times while being here and this visit wasn't as long as my other visits so that was also a plus and due to the attentiveness of the team.

There were many other employees who helped me through my visit but dr. Syzld and nurse Angela was all I remembered. If possible, I wanna shout out the whole department on that day, starting with the receptionist who got me to a nurse immediately. I'd definitely come here again for care if ever needed (hopefully not)!

The problem I found is two fold, the nursing staff and the cliental, The Doctors were superb, The last time I went, the police were wrestling a belligerent drug addict to the floor, I would hazard to say at least 70% of ER patients are there drug seeking wandering in the hallways shouting profanities, the nurses are burned out and angry, many of them young and ill trained, my nurse didn't even know how to apply the blood pressure cuff correctly ( I was a nurse at MGH for 20 years) and when I politely corrected her, she jerked it off my arm and told me and I quote :just do what your told: they spend all their times with addicts who really aren't sick but ran out of their prescriptions early due to overuse, it was horrible

Sad to see what started out as a promising merger devolve into a bureaucracy that couldn't give a flying yahoo less about its patients. In one case it was a physical therapist who couldn't make up her mind why a power wheelchair wouldn't be covered by my insurance (it was - just after I went to another hospital, who knew what they were doing).

In another case it was a primary care doctor who was caring and responsive to patients, who wound up reading and not responding to patient portal requests for referrals. Once upon a time, this hospital used to follow up each patient encounter with "How Was Your Experience" surveys; toward the end of my time with this place, not a single survey; just they stopped even trying. There are plenty hospitals in the Boston area that take Medicare & MassHealth - no need to settle for this lot, just because they label themselves a "safety net hospital".

I never write reviews but felt compelled to after multiple terrible experiences at Boston Medical Center. I have seen specialists in both their OBGYN department, and their Gastroenterologist (GI) department. I saw multiple providers in OBGYN, as well as one doctor in GI before deciding to never come here again. If you're like me and have a primary care physician in the Boston Medical Center network at a non-hospital location, it's completely worth the time/hassle of getting external referrals worked up and transferring your paperwork rather than dealing with BMC. I'd recommend Mass General.

As others have mentioned, walking into BMC is a whole thing in and of itself. There are a number of methadone clinics on this block that serve folks who are experiencing active addiction/dependency issues, in addition to a large homeless population in this area of the city (Mass&Cass). No shade to these folks. However, walking through crowds of people who are actively suffering in order to get to your appointment is pretty distressing.

It made me dread entering the building far more than I already did. OBGYN - My concerns were not taken seriously. I was rushed through each appointment and often left with multiple important questions unanswered. I was passed from provider to provider as my needs were time-sensitive and I could not get in with a doctor who knew my case each time, which lead me to explaining my OBGYN history over and over despite them having records in front of them.

I first came here for IUD removal after having some pretty severe mental and physical reactions to it. I felt mocked after the procedure for being upset about my experience, and was told with a smirk that it "works for so many women" which made me feel like they were implying that it was MY fault or shortcoming. After the procedure, when I'd completely dressed and was literally walking out the door to leave, the provider mentioned so casually for the very first time, "oh, by the way, you'll likely have bleeding - do you want a pad?" I saw another Dr. of OBGYN for large ovarian cysts/endometriosis.

I continued to be rushed through appointments, and often left feeling like it was a completely useless appointment. For BMC being a teaching hospital, they are remarkably not up to date with current endometriosis research. I was frequently stunned by some of the recommendations by my provider and his team. After seeking out an endometriosis specialist, I was told that HALF of the information that I was given was either not true/up to date, or not an advisable treatment plan for what I was experiencing.

The best thing I did was finding a specialist, and transferring my regular OBGYN care like yearly paps and checkups over to a smaller practice within the MGH network. I benefitted from a much higher level of bedside manner, scientific knowledge, and atmosphere. No more being pushed out the door, no more inept providers. GI - I had one virtual appointment during the pandemic with a provider who threw the kitchen sink at my issues - sounds good, but in fact it felt like he was trying to address way too many things at once and all virtually.

I was given prescriptions, very restrictive diet plans, and advice that felt like such a "catch all" and in fact, none of it solved my problems. When I went to make another appointment, the soonest I could get was MONTHS out and I was told it would be virtual. I was then called the day before the appointment to be told that it was actually in person, and they weren't doing virtual appointments anymore.

I explained that I had already scheduled my work around the virtual appointment and could no longer attend the in-person appointment which would take hours to commute to and from, not to mention waiting time. I reiterated that I was still symptomatic and my issues had progressed. They said they were adding me to a waitlist, and booked me for "the soonest appointment" a whopping 4 months later.

I never got a call about the waitlist or an open appointment. When I checked to confirm the date of that follow-up appointment 4 months later, I found that it had been cancelled without any notice whatsoever. I had to call to reschedule, and was again given a brand new appointment another 2 months out. 6 months waiting, while experiencing symptoms, just to meet with ANY provider.

Their "waitlist" never existed. At this point I decided I needed to have my records transferred to Mass General. Meanwhile, I was getting called from the GI department triage line to try and book me sooner (making me know they DID have sooner appointments), but that provider could not get my symptoms right after I told probably 10 different people in the GI department what I was experiencing over these past 6 months.

It was as if they were reading another person's chart. This was completely unacceptable. My hope in writing this is to encourage others think twice before coming here for care if you have the option. Avoid avoid avoid.

A utter cluster f$&@, they take you in to make sure they can charge your insurance for a medical visit. They play the game of wearing you out with the zombies, triageing ever crack head, methadone, detox degenerate that walks in before you. Do not come here go anywhere else you will waste your life away waiting because they know you will leave when you get fed up, but they won hitting your insurance up for the emergency copay, even advising you to leave and go somewhere else once they've taken blood or seen you before to see the doctor. DONT GO TO THIS EMEGENCY ROOM, unless you actually like wasting your time and hard earned money, while all the zombie crackheads go before you and your family! No water to wash your hands and all the restrooms messed can't even tell what was on the floor

I have a condition that effects hair nails and teeth. I received a grant from a dental implant manufacturer that will supply all materials provided I find a surgeon who can perform, with lab work, pro-bono. I reached out to BMC through twitter, email and certified mail to its current president and have heard nothing back. Very disappointed considering BMC receives top government funding.

Came here for a nurse conference. I enjoyed the campus where my conference is at. clean and I felt safe overall. Some sketchy people walking around here and there asking for donations etc but Otherwise I didn't have any trouble. Some good places around the campus to grab lunch

Back in 2008 I had spinal surgery. 8 hour surgery to remove a cyst from my spine. Surgeon was great. The nurses were mean and lazy. They left my incision which was8 inches unbandaged and never checked it. I went home with it infected. Yep, mean lazy nurses that were brutal and spoke to me like I was beneath them. I have nothing good to say about that experience. The pain was excruciating and they ordered me to sit up without any relief.

BOSTON MEDICAL CENTER is the review I wrote about in 2014, somehow the name and address have been changed to this parking garage, and I can't change it back to the actual place I reviewed - but my review still stands for BMC, it is STILL a pit! Avoid Boston Medical Center at all costs!

I arrived at the ER room and it didn't take me more than. 5 minutes until the receptionist called my name and took down my information. The staff were rather friendly and alerted me quickly that they were short on room that day when they put in a bed. The atmosphere was clean, they observed me closely and were patient with me. 4/5 stars because you either pay for parking or take an Uber. Aside from that the entrance to get to the ER room is a long walk.

I never write reviews but this is simply just ridiculous. My sister had an emergency operation to delivery the baby over 4 hours ago and we still haven't seen the mother or the baby. We're all anxiously waiting in the waiting area since it was an EMERGENCY OPERATION! Nobody communicated anything to us. We would ask the staff when can we see the baby or the mother and all they would tell us is to wait.

They don't even tell us how long or what's going on. It's almost midnight now, still we haven't seen the baby. You can imagine how nerve wrecking it could be. I don't understand how these medical staff can be so inconsiderate to our feelings.

A close relative was feeling very sick with lack of air and other symptoms and she was rushed to the emergency room. After the doctor made a few tests, she was told she had 3 days to live, her heart arteries were blocked, just like my late husband did. She was told of the risk of the Catheter surgery and the possibility that she could die while in surgery because of her current health situation and her age.

She opted to do the surgery as she was sick and in so much pain, she felt that she was dying. After 2:00 PM surgery started and by after 6:00 PM she was done and she called me with so much joy and energy in her voice that it felt like she gained 50 years extra of lifetime. A few days after the surgery she also said that she was feeling rejuvenated, light, and happy.

She didn't feel suffocated or lack of air as before. The Staff and Doctors were the best of the best and so attentive to her medical needs, I was so happy to see her getting the right care with the right hospital. Boston is known for having the best hospitals in the world and this hospital surely proved that. While my late Husband had similar symptoms that obviously showed that something was wrong with his health for about 5 years, he kept denying and lying to me about feeling good, it got me thinking how easy it would had been if he had gone to the doctor and take care of his health.

I remember when he was in the ICU and the doctors told me that there were many more men in the ICU with the same health issue. I just kept thinking "Oh waoh! how many families and wives deal with men who do not like to go to the doctor and get check ups". I have to make this public in a way to create awareness. It is so easy to seek medical help, there is no excuse not to go to a doctor.

Even if one had no medical insurance, there is still the choice of, for example, flying to the Dominican Republic and get low cost and best of the best medical care as well. Some of the symptoms before a stroke or a heart attack as I had seen: * Lack of air, weird strange heart palpitations. * Blurred speech. * Poor blood circulation. * Lump in the legs (calf muscle lump, thigh muscle lump) this type of lump is temporary and will disappear and reappear depending on the blood circulation, is a real sign. All in all, I am very happy of the medical care from this Hospital. It does feel like a real life miracle.

This used to be a GREAT hospital. Now the emergency room is the worst in the state. It's a SHITSHOW. Instead of doing their job, and moving patients out, the nurses are on their facebook, gossiping, sitting at their computers while the patients lay there in the hallway, for HOURS, totally mortified, and in pain.yet if you ask for pain killers, you are a DRUG SEEKER and treated like a leper.

Seen 1 Doctor. Can't Help. Seen Ortho who can't help. Orders MRI Gets MRI. Told I'd get results within 48 Hours I call 10 days later to get my results. I'm told I have to book an appointment 30 days from now to get them. Ponzi Scheme. Literally trying to book more appointments to take money. I'd rather die on the side of the street than get help from these collective groups of "doctors".

Today i went to the new PACU unit for surgery. I want to specially thank RN nurses Donna B and Donna P for all there help while i was waiting to go in OR room 4. I want to also thank my OR nurse Mike, the anesthesia guys and of course my amazing Orthopedic Surgeon. Only problem is waiting to go in as times can run late but that's normal. Thanks also to Kevin in recovery for handling my pain levels. The nurses really are so caring
